Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden- Rossendorf (HZDR) performs world leading research on plasma accelerators (both ion and electron beams) and their applications with a particular focus on medical applications (oncology). HZDR is setting up two lasers of the 1 PW class, including the 1 PW laser with the smallest footprint available (towards compact accelerators). HZDR is also developing state-of-the-art simulation codes for plasma accelerators that are available in open source.
